WHOOHOO Finally got it! A new exercise machine!
so here is the story. For the last two, almost three years, I've used a Gazelle regularly. In the process I lost over fifty pounds and got fitter, not fit, just fitter

It also brought my diabetes into far better control

BUT... you knew that was coming

The Gazelle became not only boring, but really didn't even make me break a sweat any more, not even in a 20 minute workout

So started looking at Ellipticals. Why? I need a low impact machine

Today I found my lady (as it were)

Sears has a sale, and they had a low end machine, that takes a little less space than my trusty gazelle

I got it today, and got on it, mind you, testing ellipticals all day I got a work out al on its own

So nine minutes later I was done... really done... as in really feeling the burn done, and just on the most basic of resistances.. but then again I had been playing with them all day, so perhaps I was already tired.

Ah the joys of getting an exercise machine that is a challenge anew.

Ah the joys

And it is quiet, as in very quiet

Oh and I did not break the bank... and I see this as investing in me (Remember this was on sale, so it wasn't that bad, as in 50% off)

Of course hubby and I were joking about it The gazelle saw a shirt on it, very rarely... this one already has a towel on it, for the exercise you see

Oh and it comes with a bottle holder, which was a nice touch

Now the fan... he'll benefit, as he should be able to use it as well... and he's tall enough... fan, funny, what a joke for us shorties, and yes must of these machines these days have them.

He also told me today, you know you have hard legs? I guess it is all that exercise I do these days and I enjoy the feeling of euphoria after a workout, and happy, and all that

As to the times, I did my job to stimulate the economy and did something good for myself as well.

Oh and the gazelle, calling goodwill on monday... I also have an old computer monitor to go to them... that way somebody else can get a good use out of it. I know I did and lord knows it did get quite a bit of use

2. I actually can write longer when I do that, and better prose too
Funny, it used to be a drag, but these days it is just part of the routine

:-)

You just do it

3. I got an eliptical trainer at Costco last September.
It's a Nordic Track and it's a dream.

Various trips and sniffles have interfered with my using it as religiously as I'd wanted to, but if I find I don't have time for it on a given day, I go ahead and do five minutes anyway.

That way I never get out of the habit of using it.

It's wonderfully easy on my joints and marked improvement comes really fast.

I love it.

Have fun with yours!

4. They had the nordic as well, and it was nice
but was way off my budget

This one runs nicely and yes I am sure I will have fun with it.

ALso the fact that it has several workout modes and of course manual

The resistance is a welcomed addition to my workout... definitely

5. Good on ya!
I have lost 18 pounds so far this year. My goal is to be down another 47 pounds by the end of October, and unload two or three prescriptions that are costing way too much. It's interesting that the med I take for for diabetes is three times the cost of my next most expensive one.

I have been on the treadmill almost every day for a month. I started out going a mile in 35 minutes, now; I can do a mile and a half in the same amount of time.

I am journaling everything I eat and drink. Check out Lance Armstrong's site: www.livestrong.com
Lots of great features that you can use for free.

I really would like to get an elliptical. What brand did you end up with? The bike is still too hard on these old knees.

Good luck!

6. Proform razor 420
essentially the price was right

After taxes it was 280

We also took it home ourselves already assembled, floor model

Price was right, essentially

And will check his site, thanks

:-)

As to ditching the meds, I already ditched one.... it got to the point that I was getting more than I needed (weight related) and the hypoglycemic bouts were down right dangerous

Right now only on one and if I manage to ditch another thirty or forty pounds, may be able to ditch the second one

Be advised though Diabetes makes loosing harder (in the earlier stages, later on well dad is having a hell of a time keeping his weight up)

7. Congrats. Isn't it fun?
I got a new stationary bike in January. I'm having a blast. Riding it from Iowa to Ann Arbor, then on to Washington DC.
I chart my miles on a map and love seeing the progress I'm making.
