About Limbaugh's Lie: "Democrats Wanted Iraq War to Fail"
Do you EVER recall hearing a Democrat say "I want the Iraq war to fail?" Limbaugh used that line in his recent CPAC speech and so it's OK to hope for Obama to fail as well.

First of all, I don't think any of us wanted the Iraq war to fail. We were protesting because we knew it was a war that would destabilize the entire ME region, AND we were blatantly lied to about why we needed to invade Iraq in the first place. Our fear was, taking out Saddam would empower Iran and the Shia extremists and that's exactly what has happened. In essence we were speaking out AGAINST failure in that region. NO ONE that I know of HOPED FOR FAILURE, and we were right in believing the Bush Doctrine would wreak havoc and make us less safe for years to come.

This is yet another clear example of the rightwing propaganda machine throwing a blatant lie out there and seeing if it sticks. Now Michael Steele is stoking the fire and repeating the same damn lie. You can see it here:

What is scary is D.L. Hughley agreed with him. You can write to him here:

We need to nip this shit in the bud every time we hear it come out of their lying mouths.

1. Saying that something will fail . . .
. . . and wanting it to fail are two totally different things. Sadly for the 30 percent of the population with sub-normal IQ's (e.g. republics) that differentiation is difficult if not impossible to make.

4. Exactly
If Limbaugh were to say Obama's policies would be a failure, it would mean something entirely different.

3. No one "hoped" for failure, we just said it WOULD be
a failure. Look who started the war. The king of failure.

5. I "Want" to win
the lottery, it hasn't happened yet. "wish in one hand, and s t in the other, see which gets full fastest".
However, Limbaugh's comment is a call to arms. He's trying to start some kind of armed resistance and he needs to be jailed for it, it's treason in it's basest sense.

7. I was conflicted.
When "Mission Accomplished" day came so quickly, I was happy that more had not been killed and maimed, but afraid that now because of this rapid and not very costly victory America would embark upon more military misadventures. Iran, I feared, would quickly be our next target.

And I do believe that if the Iraqis had not turned to guerrilla warfare to resist our occupation, and had they not made it clear that it was "Mission Not Accomplished" that we would have continued with our wars-of-choice. I believe that the price of invading Iran would have been far more costly than what we, and the Iraqis, have paid for Bush's war thus far.

Easy success in Iraq would have been like Hitler's triumph in Greece: A victory that held the seeds of eventual defeat.

But no. I never wanted us to lose. I just wanted us to have never started.
