$243 for Singulair and Pulmicort
A month worth of Singulair and 2 months worth of Pulmicort.

And that's WITH a 20% discount from the county.

When are we getting socialized medicine?

4. What is the actual cost for this service... I know this is what they
charged... but I wonder what the actual cost for the shots were at least... 212 to walk in the door, that's at least fifty dollars a step. But hey, look at this...

11. Is $2800 what your insurance company paid or what the hospital billed?
Last fall I had a medical adventure the cost nearly $15,000 when the original bills were added up. But the amounts the insurance company negotiated dropped the total cost down to about $5500 (of which I paid about $600). It's another way the uninsured can get screwed - they'll get harassed for the full charges.

5. Both Merck and Astra-Zeneca are trying to keep generics off the market
But maybe Teva has generic Pulmicort? And they are going after Merck and Singulair.

The patents are the problem. The two firms basically have legal monopolies until the patents expire.

8. my sister works for a company that keeps generics off the market
her company is constantly hired by Big Pharma to keep generics off the market. I could never morally do her job.

6. Advair is just about the same price.

That's GlaxoSmithKline's product. I switched to Symbicort (Astra-Zeneca) since it seems to work better for me, though. Patents are definitely the issue.

9. Patents
Some of the best drug deals come from India because their patent laws are not as restrictive as elseware.
Indian companies can sell generic equivalents of patented drugs if they manufacture them by some slightly
different method than the patent holder. It's legal there. They can also sell them without prescription.

You can find them on some UK websites.
