California prisons won't hold some illegal immigrant offenders - LOL
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/03/california-corr.html

California corrections officials have told the federal government that they will no longer lock up undocumented immigrants on parole violations who enter the country illegally after being deported, a practice that costs the state an estimated $10 million a year.

In a letter to U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on Friday and in a news conference today, California corrections chief Matt Cate said the federal government should prosecute undocumented immigrants who return to the country after deportation because that is a crime under federal law.

The stance refers to immigrants who had committed crimes in California and finished serving their terms.

sorry this is all funny to me in an ironic way

the republicans are against immigration but now they are being released back into society
the republicans like killing and are for the death penalty and now states are eliminating the death penalty to save money

it is all boiling down to money

maybe the issues the dems want can be gotten when the states run out of money for them since they will keep the money for their own pay and retirement and plane trips and boondoggles or like the lt governor in florida who uses state planes for commuting but the toll authority just voted to up the rate of tolls because the ridership on toll roads are down

the thinking class seems to have left the country and I am not sure who is running things

1. Next up - release the non-violent drug offenders!
Funny how when the shit really hits the fan the "value conservatives" abandon their best loved and time worn battle calls in favor of holding onto their wallets.

Now to think of a way to make opposition to gay marriage expensive...

2. This could be a good time to revisit the amnesty issue
Boot out the minority of illegal aliens who make a living from crime or serial abuse of the system here, get the rest (most of whom just want to make a living) onto the books, pying taxes, and driving insured vehicles etc. It won't fix the economic problems, but every $100 in new taxes paid by (current) illegal aliens will total about a billion dollars. Fairer to everyone, cheaper to implement, less money for crime syndicates and Mexican gangsters, better for the govts balance sheet, and it will give us leverage to argue for better regulation and observance of NAFTA (ie demanding health and safety standards be enforced south of the border etc).
