Congresswoman cynically taps gay issue for political diversion

Only this time, it's not a Republican tapping the gay issue; it's a Democrat - Ellen Tauscher of California. At the very same time that Tauscher is http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jane-hamsher/mortgage-write-downs-why_b_170773.html">working behind the scenes, on behalf of the banking industry, to defeat HR 200 (which would allow bankruptcy judges to renegotiate homeowners' mortgages so they don't lose their homes), she, all of the sudden, on Monday, http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5ibTTU7BOmmKmm8WDoCOskYBwnxEQ">introduced legislation to end the military's 'don't ask, don' tell' policy towards gays.

The problem isn't that she supports repealing the 'don't ask/don't tell'; it's that she's clearly trying to divert attention away from her "New Democrat" whoring. The bankruptcy renegotiation is a key part of Obama's plan to help the lower and middle class; Tauscher is actually trying to undermine Obama.

There's a lot of other Democrats out there who could be calling for a repeal of 'Don't ask/Don't tell' who aren't also trying to make it easier for banks to throw people out of their homes.
