Malaysian zoo names new lion cubs Obama, Hillary
Edited on Tue Mar-03-09 01:31 AM by Beacool

Hot favourite: Mohd Sham with Obama at the zoo in Johor Baru.

Kuala Lumpur - Zookeepers in Malaysia's southern Johor state have named two new African lion cubs after US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, a news report said Tuesday. Obama and Hillary, along with another female cub yet to be named, were born in captivity at the Johor Zoo on January 16, zookeeper Mohamad Sham Mahdon Said said.

"Obama the president and Obama the lion cub can both trace their ancestry back to Africa, so there is a definite connection there," Mohamad Sham was quoted as saying by the Star daily.

The cubs were born to Siti and Sarip, nine-year old African lions.

"It is curious, playful and hates being caged up," Mohamad Sham said of little Obama.

Obama and Hillary have been the major draw at the zoo since their birth, with tourists and visitors flocking to have their pictures taken with the namesakes of the US politicians.

2. I get the feeling that the three cubs are "Hillarys".
LOL!!! The cub is adorable, pity they didn't have a pic of the other two.

3. There's gotta be a good joke in this somehwere, but somehow, I'm at a loss.
Anyone else? Come on people! If this had happened a year ago in the midst of the Primary Wars, someone would have come up with something by now!

5. Oh yeah, it would have hit the fan once again.
Sharpton would have organized a protest march and the NAACP would have called for a boycott of the zoo.

8. Yeah, because people upset by racist cartoons are so overly-sensitive....

9. I'm still not sure of the cartoonist's intentions.
The chimp story was THE headline of the day, along with the signing of the stimulus package. It seemed to me to be more a case of being tone deaf than an attempt at blatant racism.
