I watched the movie "Donnie Darko" recently. (spoilers inside)

Somehow I felt that the story sort of described the history of american conservatism. With Donnie's dad being the "traditional" brand of conservative, a mostly cool guy who doesn't want to pay tax and that weird pedophile preacher guy being the "new" brand of conservative. Donnie ventured into a parallel world where he took down those new conservatives. Unfortunately in the real world, Dukakis lost against Bush and Donnie is killed by the airplane engine.
