Is it possible to stop "junk" calls to my cell phone?
I call them "junk" calls because they remind me of junk mail. Unsolicited trash that I have to deal with one way or another.

I don't answer these calls. I do write the numbers down and google them, and each time it's the same: the number is listed among several others, with the phrases "who is calling me" and "do not answer!" and the like.

Is there any way to turn this crap off?

1. You can put cellphones on the "do not call" list

5. Turn your cell phone off, and use it just for outgoing calls.
Check your voice mail frequently and return calls promptly. The robo calls won't leave voice mail. Let your contacts know what you're doing and follow up promptly on all calls.

6. It depends on your phone service
Most don't allow you to just simply select a number to block. Being on the do not call list can help, but it's not perfect, and sometimes calls will get through. For instance somewhere my wife's number is listed as some sort of fax number and she gets faxes from a hospital on a regular basis, but when she calls back she gets a general number. No way to tell who it is. No way to just block it, and the do not call registry doesn't work for this.

The only option there depends on your phone service. Many offer things under different names but fall under the services provided for people with kids on phones. Youc an get these for generally 5 bucks a month or so and both restrict the phone to both call only certain numbers, to only recieve from certain numbers, or to block certain numbers. You can get this service on your phone and simply block the numbers that come in.

it all depends on who your carrier is. There is no free way to do it though.
