Dow declines 6200 under shrub and pubs wail about 1600 point drop since mid Jan.
Edited on Tue Mar-03-09 06:02 PM by TWiley
The republicans are whining in mass about the 1600 point drop since Mr. Obama took office, and completely ignore the 6200 drop under Bush. How is this a condemnation of Mr. Obama's stimulus, and a vindication of policy under shrub? Why is every talking head on the news saying this is a condemnation of the new administration?

Does anyone else find this annoying?

1600 points in 6 weeks IS a much steeper drop than 6200 points in 8 years.

just sayin'...

25. the poster i replied to didn't express a time frame, either...
just that the "dow declined 6200 under shrub", so i assumed he was referring to the entire stretch of the presidency.
but then- nuance doesn't really appear to be your strong suit...do you even have a strong suit?

13. the same reason
they said nothing the 6 years the DOW bounced around 10,000 and yet the economy was doing great! Then a ~ 1year run up to 14,000 is proof Bushes tax cuts 6 years earlier were the cause... In other words these people don't know economics so why do so many listen?

22. It's what republicans do. They create a big mess and then when the
voters have enough, they put in democrats to clean up their mess. Then the republicans sit back on their big fat hemorrhoid asses and point their shit stained fingers at the democrats.

The only solution to this madness is to leave the democrats in charge.

27. We are about 18 months into this recession.
Dont you feel that it is silly to blame someone who has been in office for 6 weeks, and vincicate the ones who were in power for 8 years?

Unfortunately, the market will shed a little more. It is my hope that it will bottom around 6200. The recent drop you are referring to is called "capitulation" and it is the final phase of the market cycle before recovery.

28. In private, even the pubs know Obama was going to lift the market

Most the of the pubs I talked to thought Obama was going to lift the market even though they were then quick to rant about how "bad" he was.

So they feel doubly wrong. They don't want to admit having hope in Obama and they don't want to admit that they were wrong about Obama saving the market. So they take their anger out on Obama.

Bear in mind also, that if the market went up they would give credit to Bush. If it fell they were always going to blame Obama.
