The man charged with kidnapping and attempted robbery at Greenville First Bank is the father of four young children, served as a church deacon, ran his own real estate business, faced financial problems and "must have just snapped," according to court statements Friday.
Bruce Lee Windsor, 43, could face 30 years in prison if convicted on the robbery charge and 30 years each if convicted of the two kidnapping charges, in addition to five years each on two charges of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He could also face federal charges.
Windsor appeared at his arraignment hearing Friday surrounded by his pastor and three women, one of whom was identified as his wife, Heather.
Another woman, who identified herself as Windsor's sister but whose name wasn't released, spoke through sobs as she clung to Windsor's arm and described her brother as a man who knows how to treasure a budding flower with his children and doesn't even cuss.
"Every day he's there for them," the sister said. "He must have just snapped."
Mitchell (his lawyer) told the judge that Windsor was a "model citizen" until Thursday, and that he ran his own business buying and selling homes.
