(Springfield) -- Former Governor Rod Blagojevich's big book deal could be the last for a disgraced Illinois politician. Lawmakers are set to consider a plan that would act as a sort of Son of Sam law for corrupt politicians.
Democratic State Representative, and frequent Blagojevich critic, Jack Franks is proposing the law.
He says it's "sickening" that the former Governor has inked a reported six figure book deal.
Franks says Blagojevich never gave the people of Illinois his all, and doesn't think he should be rewarded for it. But Franks' law would not apply to the disgraced Governor.
Blagojevich has not been convicted of anything, and continues to deny any wrongdoing. But Franks says the Governor is not the only corrupt politician in the state, and fears there may be more like him. Illinois does not have a law banning criminals from profiting from the stories of their crimes.
The first laws of the kind came in New York after the Son of Sam killings. Franks isn't guessing when his proposal could come-up for a vote, the Governor's book is expected by October.
