As soon as the legal proceedings end, Franken is certified and becomes the Senator from Minnesota. Adding an appeal would only draw things out.

Legislation is being passed in which Minnesota has a diminished voice in crafting and the nation is denied its full compliment of Senators.

but Minnesota law prevents certifying a winner until all legal challenges have been resolved. There's a difference, and it's unfortunate the word "certify" appears in both.

Pawlenty (or however you spell it) has to certify the election, and so far he hasn't. They have to dispense with the lawsuits first. They finished the recount, and per the recount Franken won, but the election hasn't been certified by the Minnesota SOS yet.

I understand the recount, and they should have done it no matter which one was ahead. But it was done, and Franken won. Norm is a loser. Go away Norm.
