I think Limbaugh actually helped Obama win. His over the top lame, mean and foolish rhetoric was not what people wanted to hear this election. Other than the lunatic fringe of the Republican Party, Limbaughs screeds fal on deaf ears. He may fire up the base but the Republicans need more than the base to win elections.

I have yet to hear a coherant vision of what the likes of Limbaugh envisions for America. He's terrific with the attacks and the hyperbole and the hate but he is unable to articulate what America would look like if all of the policies he endorses are put into effect. Is it "I'm rich, screw you!"?

THe America that the RWers seem to embrace sounds like something out of a Dickens novel. If you're poor, too fucking bad. Deal with your pathetic station in life. You're there because you deserve it. But Jesus loves you.

And yes, he gets to me like a tick or a tapeworm would get to me.

And, he has unarguable gifts as an entertainer without actually being entertaining (except to his increasingly marginalized fans).
