Don Siegelman Statement On Conyers/Rove Agreement
Via Email:

From: Don Siegelman:

Congressman John Conyers has worked boldly and courageously to break the impasse between Congress and the Karl Rove's claim of Executive Privilege.

I congratulate John Conyers in securing this crucial step toward the truth, I commend the House Judiciary Committee and its staff for its tireless work, and I encourage the Committee to muster the strength needed to hold Karl Rove's feet to the fire to the fullest extent of the law until he is forth coming.

As much as this is an important breakthrough toward the truth, we must remember there are others, for example, the husband of the U S Attorney who prosecuted me who has been identified as a co-conspirator and who must also be called before Congress to answer for his part in my prosecution.

2. i agree he must testify, but
mostly because he is such a liar that he could not help perjuring himself.
what we really need is the correspondence, especially those emails.

and why the hell isn't this clown already under indictment for violating the hatch act all day every day for 8 years?

3. Yes, yes, yes.
Oh what a web is yet to be untangled,
in ways too simple,
and squarely angled,
for fascist thoughts
believed new-fangled.

Jun-01-07 - Abramoff and Kark Rove Linked to Prosecution of Ex-Alabama Governor and Campaign Finances
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x1023111

ABRAMOFF: Gambling, Indians, Rove, Reed and the Republican Money Machine ...

No one outside Karl Rove is more responsible for George W. Bush's rise in the south than former Christian Coalition head Ralph Reed, ... he's got some problems coming his way...
.... an Indian tribe with a casino in Mississippi was a source for $1.15 million that Reed helped send to two anti-gambling campaigns in Alabama ...
....Jack Abramoff ... acted as an intermediary for much of the cash.

"Somebody's lying. It's either John Giles or Ralph Reed or both. I think these people are scoundrels," said Siegelman, a Democrat who blames his failure to win re-election on the lottery defeat.....

It's a nifty little racket Rove and Reed, with a lot of help from Delay, Abramoff and even the money man himself, Grover Norquist, have going.........

In 1999, Don Siegelman, the Democratic governor of Alabama, proposed a lottery that would have pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into public schools and even provided free college education for most Alabama high school graduates.

Reed, rallying religious conservatives, set out to try to defeat it ... quickly raised $1.15 million .... money came from Norquist's group, Americans for Tax Reform. Norquist ... got the funds from an Indian gaming tribe ...At the time Reed raised the money, he was working for Abramoff ... and Abramoff represented the Mississippi tribe.

Siegelman ..."'I don't know how they can sleep at night taking money from the Indian casinos to deny Alabama schoolchildren...."

.... Abramoff, meanwhile, appears to be the central focus ....Bush has not spoken on the matter.

10. If Siegelman Is Happy W/ The Deal, I'm Happy W/ The Deal
Really. If anyone has any say, it's Siegelman. He's satisfied. I'm satisfied. What else needs to be said? What else would you need to know?
