I just saw Phl Gingrey almost step into the Rushbo trap again. Asked about his opinion of his assholiness, Gingrey first inoculated himself by making sure to mention other hate spewers like Hannity, Ingraham and Bortz and then saying how they were "strong voices of the conservative movement" and not leaders of the rushpublican party. He then gave Steele a backhanded complement in saying he was the leader of the party, but not of the conservative movement. Thus, is one to assume that Steele isn't really a conservative?
The battle going on isn't between Rushbo and President Obama or Rahm Emmanuel or James Carville. This is for the "soul" of what's left of the GOOP. It's forcing politicians to admit or deny which form of wife beating they prefer. Dare to even dismiss Rushbo and expect your phones to ring and the right wing echo chamber to howl. Kiss his ring and it shows whose the boss and how weak the party is.
The mold is now cast...virtually every rushpublican on a cable show is asked to give their loyalty to the "golden microphone". It's yet another litmus test and the longer it goes on the more damage it does to the GOOP. Bottom line is the party remains in denial and clueless. So the new tactic is to say rushbo is a "conservative" and not a republican...thus not to alienate. Let's see how well this charade goes.
