First off, wanting Obama to fail IS the same thing as wishing pain and suffering on the United States. That's pretty obvious. If Obama fails now, the country will suffer greatly.

No true patriot wants the country to suffer. Do I agree with all of the stimulus plan? No. But I don't want ANY of it to fail. I want to be proven wrong about the parts I don't like. I would rather be wrong than have the chance to say "I told you so."

Heck, even with the Iraq war, I get zero pleasure from having been right. I would have loved to have been proven wrong. The country would be much better off now if the war had been quick, cheap and quickly successful in transforming Iraqi society. The fact that I knew none of that would happen does not make me happy. Again, I really, really wish I had been totally wrong.

If Rush really loved America, he'd be saying: "I hope I am wrong." He is not saying that. Even in his recent "clarifications" he is still saying "I want it to fail." That is downright sinister.
