City (NOLA) sitting on millions for affordable housing
while roughly 150,000 are still displaced. :grr: :banghead:

However, documents provided to Eyewitness News by the Department of Housing and Urban Development show that the city of New Orleans has been sitting on millions of dollars that could have helped people like Ford find affordable housing and return home.

The money comes from HUD Home Funds. Every year since 1992, the city has been given about $6 million to go towards affordable housing. However, even with an affordable housing crisis since Katrina, it’s money the city hasn’t been spending.

Last month, HUD sent the city’s recovery director, Dr. Ed Blakely, a letter. It was one of two detailing the slow spending of HUD funds. The latest letter said that if the city didn’t spend $11 million of that money by May 31, they’d lose it.

:wtf:

2. Sounds like it was being withheld before Nagin . . .
both mayors before Nagin were Dems, too.

3. I'm so done done making excuses for him. This is his watch.

NOLA has been punished since Lincoln's assassination. They were the first integrated city in this nation and all of that vanished and worse when he was killed. Enough already.

4. I wasn't making excuses,
just attempting a little accuracy.

Pardon me for interrupting your rant.
