After Serving 25 Years, DNA Clears Convicted Rapist

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man who has spent the last 25 years behind bars could soon be released from prison after he was cleared of wrongdoing through DNA testing.

Joseph Fears was sentenced up to 75 years in prison after being convicted of committing two rapes in 1983, 10TV's Glenn McEntyre reported.

An investigation by The Columbus Dispatch and the Ohio Innocence Project led investigators to locate old evidence in the case and conduct DNA testing.

The tests cleared Fears of one of the crimes, McEntyre reported.

"My view has been always if there's material to test, then we're willing to test it," said Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien. "The role of the prosecutor isn't always to get convictions; it's to do justice."

2. Recriminations must follow against the "victim", the judge, the prosecutor AND the jury
This must never be tolerated.

It also does not help matters when militant feminists create a climate that insinuates that any man accused of rape must therefore be guilty. Remember the Duke lacrosse case? Those guys were cleared because they had the resources to fight back. This man did not have such resources for 25 years.

4. Oh Gawd - the Duke Lacrosse Team
Funny you would remember that.

I'm still on most the feminazi's ignore list from the arguements we had here at DU. Saddest part was in the end a poor drug addicted woman never got the treatment or help she needed because the DA was using her to further his political ambition
