Olbermann Shows The Truth About Rushbo's Ratings
I've posted this in the past that the claim that Rushbo had 14 or 20 or 30 million listeners was a bunch of crap. KO just had someone on to explain what I've tried to...that the ratings Rushbo and his accolytes use is "cume" or a cumulative rating of all people who tune in during a week...not a day. Also, it counts people who tune in for just a few seconds and credits them as much as someone who listens to the entire show. The "cume" is what we used to call "beauty pagent numbers"...the important ratings were the "Time Spent Listening" where Rushbo's numbers have always been poor.

Keith estimates the daily audience around 1.4 million, but even that's a guestimate. Until last year, radio ratings were based on "recall" as opposed to an electronic meter that television uses. I used to be able to see the "breakouts"...or the hour by hour totals of stations and recall Rushbo never making it into the Top 10 during any of his hours and his ratings in the key 18-34 demo was almost invisible.

Let's see if Rushbo can prove his numbers. I was generous is saying that his weekly cume should be divided by 5...Keith says it should be divided by 10!

Just goes to prove the old saying "Statistics lie and liars use statistics".

2. I encourage the use of such inflated numbers!
Hey, the more popular Rush looks, the better for us. If he boasts about having such a large following, more Republicans will be scared to stand up to him. Also, the larger his listener base appears, the more we can associate him as personifying the GOP.

3. I do believe it. I don't think it's possible to listen to that preachy-voiced gas bag
for more than a few minutes at the most.
