We quit talking about two weeks before the November election. He adores Bu$h and all things Republican. Cuz can quote Ru$h like his fundy son can quote scripture.

I called him last night to offer an olive branch. He started off by saying that this country is in serious trouble, and it is because of the likes of me (Obama voters/supporters). It got nasty. It got racist. He is now dead to me.

He is richer than God from his Exxon holdings. He was in the Texas Guard, never saw a day of combat, but rose to the rank of Major General (two stars) and was Commanding General of the whole Texas Army Guard. He is about 75 now.

BTW: He hates Army pilots (I was one). All drunks, cuz sez.

Both sisters are right wing nuts. Most of my cousins on my mamma's side are right-wing nuts. Most on my dad's wing are fairly liberal. The General is from my momma's side of the family.

He married my older sister when I was 10, parents divorced at 4

So I latched onto him as father figure. He was a great one

9. From experience, it only hurts for a little while. Then you don't think of them any longer.

And, it's kind of nice when they don't clutter up your mind any longer.

Seriously, go for the attitude of having your "family of choice", instead of the one you were given at birth.
