Be patient. Hannity, Limbaugh et al have essentially cut their own mikes
by being so boring, so one-note, so repetitious, so predictable, so self-certain, that they have lost all entertainment value.

People don't listen to radio to be harangued non-stop. It's like being trapped with the Piper Laurie religious fanatic mother character in "Carrie" for hours.

1. The trouble is
People have been saying exactly what you are saying for a very long time.

2. But I speak from my own personal experience.
Until very recently I was able to listen to them even though I almost never agreed with a word that they said. But, lately, they have gone so far over the top with their negativity and pessimism and flat out hatred that they are literally impossible to listen to.

Here's my analogy:

I think it is very possible that I could sit as a guest and listen politely to Billy Graham give a sermon.

I doubt very much that I could sit as a guest and listen politely to Fred Phelps give a sermon.

There is a certain point where the hatred takes over and credibility is the price. Rush was extremely intemperate when he voiced the wish for Obama's failure. I am not certain that any number of explanations can erase it. He said what he meant and we all know it.

3. Their listeners use it as reinforcement
otherwise they'd have to think on their own and that could lead to admitting being wrong about something
