I was disappointed at the time that it passed, but I feel worse now. Maybe at the time I was just so glad Obama got elected and since I'm straight it never directly effected me - basically it was just a passing thing...

Since then, I've had time to reflect. I've always believed in equal protection and equal marriage rights. That was never a doubt. But oddly enough, and I'm almost a little embarrassed to say this, but the final episode of "Six Feet Under" actually made me MORE progressive in a sense. I won't say what happens (it's a spoiler), but I don't know...that was the first time I felt the absolute same way I felt about straight marriages, with no doubt and absolute certainty. Sure, it wasn't like being there for an actual marriage, but it was the humanity. It felt just...RIGHT (or left! ;) )

I've also had the privilege of living in a progressive city the past year and just being in a less homophobic environment helps change attitudes a lot.

1. The Supreme Court all but threw teh gays under the bus
Thursday morning.

And what did they say?

You have the right to beg for your rights again if you want in 2010 through your own ballot initiative.

BEG.

It's an outrage.

2. Prop 8 is a civil liberties violation..
and no government has the right to tell you who you can and cannot marry; let alone some fundi religious fuckwads.

There is nothing in the constitution regarding marriage, so how in the fuck can their be a ban?
