2. Well, if we all robbed the banks, it would be one surefire way
to get the economy back up and running. It would give us some money to spend and the banks would just get it back anyhow. Shit, the banks should throw parades in every burg in the world and just throw the money out there to us. In the end, they'll always get it back anyhow.

every winter

some would just grab a brick, stone, whatever, and throw it through a store window

Then sit down and wait for the cops to come

"3 hots and a cot"

I got it now .

6. Possibly going out in a hail of bullets doesn't sound like the "easy way" out to me

No matter how you slice it.

I highly discourage this type of behavior.

8. So this is the first crime the chief has seen committed in her 29 yrs of service
by an "average American citizen from a middle class family?" :wtf:

They believe the man had been planning the robbery for a year, he took two hostages and threatened to kill, but some are saddened because he, this average Joe, just snapped?

He is entitled to his "3 hots and a cot" not because it will show the public that robbing a bank is not the answer. No, he has earned his prison time because he is a f*cking CRIMINAL.

10. most "CRIMINALS" are not born that way, they are created by their environment
.
.
.

Constantly abuse a human being for years or decades,

their behavior may change

SURPRISE!!

11. I am not surprised that a person's environment can cause him to commit a crime.
I am surprised the police chief witnessed her first "average American citizen from a middle class family" commit a crime. She either does not agree that environment may play a part in criminal behavior, has arrested very few people in her 29-year career, or something about this guy made him different. That is my problem - HER, thus the police department's, perspective.

Until we delve into circumstances leading to everyone's criminal behavior, I have a problem with this man being singled out as being the exception. True, based on the background presented in this piece, he led an exemplary life before robbing the bank, but certainly others who have committed crimes in Greenville have lead equally laudable lives but do not receive the same attention.
