Pete Seeger Visited North Vietnam
Pete Seeger, like Jane Fonda, visited North Vietnam. How is it that everyone talks about Jane Fonda, but not Pete Seeger? For years I have always heard about how Jane Fonda went to Vietnam, but until tonight I had never heard that Pete Seeger had visited North Vietnam.

7. Thought About Asking About That
I thought about including a sentence asking whether it had anything to do with Fonda having been pictured with North vietnam soldiers.

11. Bing.
Fonda's common sense was obviously turned off that day.

2. Ramsey Clark did also. So did a lot of antiwar activists.
Go figure. Good question.

Jane's pr sense was bad: the photoshoot on the anti aircraft guns was pushing it. Also she was female and very prominent in the mainstream popular culture.

Seeger,OTOH, was sort of an acquired taste. Popular on campuses and in countercultural circles. Also a veteran lefty and one-time CPUSA member, if I'm not mistaken. People expected him to go.

Also he didn't sit on the turrets.

5. He wasn't "famous"
A notable folk singer, true, but he never achieved the success and fame of Jane Fonda.

9. Because he's not a woman
Sheesh, does everything have to be spelled out? Hawks like their victims as weak as possible.

It also doesn't hurt that Seeger has been targeted by the brightest minds on the Reactionary Right and he's sent home every last one of them, cryin' to momma.

12. Cause Fonda is cousin to Standard Oil heirs?
cause she was more famous than seeger at the time?
