As I see it, it looks to me like there's been a multi-century class war going on in this world, and it doesn't seem like we're the ones who started it.

Maybe we should put it to an end, once and for all? I think stealing from the poor/middle class is an awful class war, and it should have stopped a long time ago.

Anyone else?

it has caused the rich of our nation quite a lot of hardship for so many years! Poor education, no health care, drab meaningless lives, no help in a major disaster, starvation and so many of the other associated problems there are for rich people in this world because of richophobia.

I think individuals who are genuinely productive and have managed to save aside money, or work in really high productivity areas like intellectual property based professions are rich through beneficial reasons are OK for us. Most people like music, books, magazines, TV, radio, and the countless other areas of intellectual property that can provide wealth, as they cater to so many people.

On the other hand, people who set up systems of taxing other people's labor, in return providing nothing but economic insecurity and bad decisions are not deserved of respect. They are parasites.

Actors make good movies to fuck to as well, and you can always buy it to actually watch when someone special isn't around.

I'm just saying, it affects more people's lives positively. Not to say that being a street sweeper isn't a valuable function, but one can only sweep so many streets within a lifetime. Intellectual goods have the possibility to go far beyond what physical work does as it concerns pleasing people, and that's why they're more expensive per person that the rest of goods.

Well, that's valuable to society, isn't it?
I like waking up to a computer without a computer virus on it, or having my bank card # stolen. That's useful and makes life better. He deserved to get rich, as he helped people. It's called profit motive, and when it comes to such hit or miss professions like the various IP professions, the chance of hitting the big time can pull people through times of immense hardship. They don't call them starving artists for nothing.

21. You're not getting it. If a musician or an artist gets rich, it's because other people consider what
that artist or musician is expressing as valuable to their own lives. Working hard has nothing to do with it. Creating something that's an honest reflection of the human condition that people can relate to is what it's about.

Someone getting rich from dealing in credit default swaps isn't doing a damn thing for anyone but himself.

55. Small business, very little planning involved.
It's exponentially less harmful than a giant corporation, but almost all giant corporations started with small ones. With 12 employees, they probably don't produce anything but software, so they probably source all their supplies externally, which is a free market operation. There is probably still planning going on as it concerns labor, instead of it self-regulating, but with so few employees, it's not part of the problem.

The problem with a corporation that's very large is that it is highly planned, and the larger it gets, the more planning is involved, supply chain wise. As if corporate governance is played like a game theory game, at each point in the game, there is a strong profit motive to integrate each level of the supply chain into the corporation and to eliminate competition.

78. Yeah, I was being a little facetious. As long as their IP isn't being used to subjugate other
people I probably wouldn't have a problem with them. Many wealthy individuals are thankful for what they have and are willing to pay their taxes (and they favor a civilized society that they know those taxes contribute to). None of this is black & white. Bill Gates, for example, I don't think of as being a particularly useful person (although he's a marketing whiz), but he is giving massive amounts of money away and I like that. He's relatively young, realizes he has more than he can ever spend, and is spending it on things like vaccines in third world countries. If everyone were like that we wouldn't be having these conversations.

75. One problem, is that everyone with a million bucks may not have stolen it, some may have earned it.
As I before said, the intellectual property professions are very capable of producing millions and millions of dollars in justifiable licensing fees. It's a good thing too, because having the only way to get rich in an IP profession will cause more people to want to do it, and we'll almost certainly have a gigantic step forward in research/music/etc.

IP professionals are the biggest victims of corporations, if they don't start one themselves.

It is pretty much all of them. And I don't mean well-compensated labor, restauranteurs (though most of them use slave labor).

The clothing industry uses child sweatshop labor.
The computer industry uses child labor.
Most coffee is picked on stolen land by impoverished laborers.
Tin and silver are mined by Bolivian men and women who have to eat coca leaves because they're so damn poor and hungry (well, it was that way before those evil MAS socialists took over...)

People who knowingly get rich investing in these practices are assholes. People who don't know what they're investing in but capable of getting rich are probably full of shit.

10. I'm with you. When Dick Cheney is busy cleaning my bathrooms I'll
consider treating them like humans. And you know that's more than they'd do for us.

56. Plus I'd make sure Cheney had health care and a pension.

53. Disagreed, they just haven't suffered enough public shame for their shameless actions...
And that includes Lieberman who was seen stepping out of a train car with Brownback the day the both of them smoking & joking about having got their earmarks but it takes more than Claire McCaskill to keep the ball rolling

66. Whatever you do--don't eat them!
You'd think they're plump and juicy, but they're not--they're gamey from personal trainers and all that racquetball. My girlfriend says they're only fit to be fed to dogs.

But seriously, what to do with them is a problem. Most need re-education. I suggest it be done really pleasantly. Sunny classrooms, donuts and coffee, fun books and movies on working class history. But if they form a counterinsurgence, then you gotta do something. You just gotta.
