KS-02 Jenkins Lies AGAIN about Railway from LA to Las Vegas
On February 19, I fessed up that I had been snookered by my Member of Congress (Lynn Jenkins) into writing a full-throated, impassioned defense of an item she was bemoaning that was in the recently signed into law economic recovery bill- specifically money for a high-speed railway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I say I was snookered because, you see, there isn't one single red cent in the bill- not one dime, not one penny's worth of funding- for such a railway in the stimulus bill.

Jenkins lied, and I was dumb enough to take her at her word.

Oh, sure, there's $8 billion for high speed rail, but that's for new rail all over the country. The bill doesn't specify where, the bill doesn't prioritize any particular line, and, I repeat, none of the money is "for" a railway between LA and Vegas.

Period. End of story. Jenkins lied to her constituents, and I demanded she apologize for it.

Guess what? She didn't apologize. Matter of fact, she's still lying about it. Thankfully, the Kansas media is calling her out on it:

1. Republicans have lied with impunity so long
and the media's been so complicit that they pretty much think that they can say anything.

Jindal found that out the hard way... but he was high profile. The lesser knowns, Fox "news" -the Post and the AM radio hosts- they'll keep right on lying.

2. Yesterday, Eric Cantor rolled out that tired lie, but said the rail line would
run from Disney WORLD, instead of Disney LAND. Heck, I think high-speed rail between Florida and Nevada would be a great thing. I think we should hold him to what he said.

3. What about the high speed RxR from Brownsville, TX to the north that ...
.... will run drugs and illegal immigrants for ACORN to register as voters?

The train will have gay conductors, no bibles, and have doctors that perform
abortions on it too.

4. What the hell do we need a bullet train to Las Vegas for?
nobody has explained that part to me,

I can think of a million better public transit endeavors for Southern California than linking Las Vegas and Disneyland.
