Sara Steelman may primary Roy Blunt for MO Senate race
http://www.ksdk.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=169375&catid=3

JEFFERSON CITY (AP) -- Former State Treasurer Sarah Steelman is attacking federal earmark spending as she gears up for a potential U.S. Senate campaign.

Congressman Roy Blunt is the only Republican so far to declare his candidacy to succeed Sen. Kit Bond in 2010. But Steelman has said she is leaning toward running.

Bond is known for using earmarks to bring federal money to Missouri projects. Blunt also has sponsored earmarks.

<snip>

Steelman ran a similar anti-earmark campaign against Republican Congressman Kenny Hulshof in last year's Republican gubernatorial primary. She plans to fly to Washington this week for meetings about a Senate race.

The only Democrat in the Senate race is Secretary of State Robin
Carnahan.

Yeah! If Steelman runs, it will be a Repug bloodbath--just like when she ran against Kenny Hulshof in the Republican primary for Governor--Sara lost to Hulshof. Democrat Jay Nixon won in a landslide.

I think Steelman would be a stronger candidate against Robin than 'ole Roy(I believe Robin could beat Roy pretty easily). After Sara and Roy go at it, Robin Carnahan should win against either one of them---and we will have another Democrat in the Senate!

1. Yes!
I would love to see Sara in the race. She and Kenny did mix it up pretty well and I think he would have lost in any event against Nixon, but she made it that much better.

2. You are right--there was no way Jay Nixon was going to lose against anybody. LOL
Sara appears to have a mean streak---she really goes for the jugular. If she does run, I expect the Republican primary to get very interesting. Get out the popcorn.

3. If she can get the funding Robin will win, but the gross fight
on the other side would be sweet.
