Lying piece of shit CEO said they had 2 profitable months. I guess they'll count up all the losses in the third month of the quarter.

It's Madoff Math.

9. Best start in some time, though.
I ma sure we'll get some kind of bad economic news. Not a day goes by without it.

I thought it could be a reaction to the stem cell legislation, but really I have no idea.

17. I know they are full of shit SoCalDem
it`s all a slight of hand numbers game. they just had 25 billion in preferred government stock converted to common so they get to keep the cash they would have paid out to preferred share holders this quarter. a nice gift from taxpayers!!

18. Just silliness.
Oh, wow....

Citi announces a 'profit' after the TARP bailout gave them billions and billions of dollars last fall.

Oh, and this 'profit' is before "writedowns".

This really just more CNBC and commissioned stock brokers silliness -- only suckers and gamblers will actually buy anything this morning.

Considering the Manpower hiring survey, this market is still way over-valued. No jobs, lower wages -- no profits for lots of companies. That's the un-silly part.

20. I'm sure it helped that they didn't have to pay dividends on their Preferred shares
but converted it to Common instead.

10. Great.
Runup in the morning, profit taking in the afternoon, everyone pile into oil speculation, after-hours on ICE, and drive up the prices there, even though there is a glut sitting in storage.

Torches and pitchforks may be the only workable solution.
