Arlen Specter: ‘I think we’re on the brink of a depression.’
from Thinkprogress:

Specter: ‘I think we’re on the brink of a depression.’

Speaking to reporters in Harrisburg, PA, yesterday, Sen. Arlen Specter (R) issued this dire economic warning:

Our economic problems are enormously serious, more serious than is publicly disclosed. And I think we’re on the brink of a depression.

ABC News suggests, “Sen. Specter is fully aware of the vulnerability on his right flank which may be why he painted such a dire and mysterious economic outlook when speaking with reporters.” Watch it:

2. So, why don't you support the President's plan to do something about it, Arlen?
BTW: Your Magic Bullet theory is still bullshit.

4. Nice of him to notice now that a Democrat is in office
I doubt he's noticed his party's culpability in setting it up, though, by its support of lunatics like Gramm and Norquist.

5. But they continue to want to blame Obama for the fall in the markets. Well, it seems to
me that the right, with their statements like "let the banks fail", "we need a spending freeze" and the MSM criticism of every move Obama makes are the ones that the market may be responding to. The argument could certainly be made. Of course, we haven't heard that possibility mentioned...even once. Even though the right is out of power, they do have the ability to be obstructionist and they've done a heckofajob of that so far.

I'm no economist, but it does seem that it's these types of messages from the right that are having as much of an impact on the economy as anything Obama has said or done.

7. I know everytime Arlen opens his mouth I get depressed. He
reminds me of the worthlessness of the republican party and what they've done to this country.

Oh! Not that kind of depressed. You mean the one where the financial system crashes and burns.

Oh boy Arlen, you're just Johnny on the Spot.

8. I hope Mr. Magic Bullet
Will be eating crow soon. Where was he the last 8 years? Oh yeah standing with his Pom Pom's cheering the war and tax breaks for the wealthy. I hope he loses his seat in 2010.
