House votes to create panel to plan Reagan centennial
Posted: 10:00 AM ET

From CNN's Rebecca Sinderbrand

A new panel will plan events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Reagan’s birth.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The House voted Monday night to approve the creation of a panel to plan a celebration of the centennial of Ronald Reagan's birth in February of 2011.

Earmark opponent Jeff Flake and former presidential candidate Ron Paul were the only Republicans who did not vote in favor of the measure, which passed 371-19.

The 11 members of the Reagan Centennial Commission will not be compensated, but the Congressional Budget Office estimated last month that reimbursement for travel expenses and other associated administrative costs would bring the eventual price tag for the project to roughly $1 million.

Out of the budget it goes! And don't even try to stir it into the Stimulus Economic Recovery Package.

And by the way, which democrats voted for this stipend and were they drunk?

5. From the vote total - almost all of them. Very disappointing, but not unexpected.
That brain-addled piece of shit should not get a celebration of his birth.

Now his death - that I could celebrate. And did.

10. There's the true Reagan legacy.
He started the modern "demonize government and deregulate everything" movement that over a quarter century has brought this country and the world to its knees.

9. $1M???? This is ridiculous beyond a doubt.
Why not just lay a wreath at his gravesite and have someone give a speech? Have we observed birth centennials for any other president?

12. So the idiot Dems in the House voted to resurrect the republic party?
Are they crazy? Why pay to praise the trickle down mess we are in now?

14. Why?
$1M for the 2nd-worst POTUS in recent history and the cause of the economic chaos we're dealing with now? :grr: Give him an appropriate gangster toast--pour a shot of cheap wine on the grave.
