Fox News urges Americans to apologise for Barack Obama's 'treatment' of Gordon Brown
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/barackobama/4974760/Fox-News-urges-Americans-to-apologise-for-Barack-Obamas-treatment-of-Gordon-Brown.html

Letters from American citizens apologising to the British people for what they see as President Barack Obama's shabby treatment of Gordon Brown have begun to arrive at the British Embassy in Washington and consulates across the United States.

Many of the missives appear to have been prompted by a plea on Monday from Glenn Beck, a Fox News host, for his viewers to write to the British Embassy to tell Britons: "They don't suck. We appreciate them."

He added: "I'd make it a little more flowery than that."

1. Suddenly conservatives care about our relationship with the world community.

4. Dear Great Britain...
I sincerely apologize for the existence of Glenn Beck. I'm not sure of his heritage, but I believe he might have once belonged to you. If so, you may have him back to do with what you will. We have some gallows available in Chicago that you can purchase seeing as you all quit doing that a while ago.

8. Americans must think that Gordon Brown is a small petty person.
I would bet that Brown and Obama have already discussed the gifts and laughed it off. It appears that people are so stupid that they have overlooked the importance of the meeting that was to resolve world problems.

12. I admit that a DVD box set was not the best gift but...WTF!!
Ok that was awkward, like when your partner gives you a portrait she painted for you for Valentine's Day and you have a gift card to Chili's for her. That equates to telling Britain that they suck? What? should we have given them one of the canons we captured from them at fort Ticonderoga?

I think that the American people have given England and the rest of the world the best possible gift in almost a decade. We have given them a political leader who is intelligent, who will listen, and who will respect the world community instead of shitting all over the place like Bush did. Respect and appreciation isn't about a gift or a symbol, it is about ongoing mutual consideration. Once again the right wing of our nation responds robotically to the calls of the shit stirring idiots in their media.

19. OMFG ... ridiculous! They're going to meet at the G20 next month!!!
I don't think Obama did too little; I think Brown and his
crew expected too much from this visit. After all, Brown's
popularity is down and he was looking for face time, photo
ops, etc., when all Obama probably aimed to do was some
transatlantic pre-summit planning.

20. Brown's own country doesn't think much of him

He was voted Britain's most boring speaker.

And his approval rating is dismal at under 40%.

21. Oh FFS!
Whatever happened to the idea that it's bad manners to complain about a present?

This is just something that the RW press on both sides of the pond have whipped up. I'm sure Gordon Brown doesn't want an apology from Obama; neither do the British people. We're delighted to see Obama in power rather than Bush. If any American politician is going to apologize to us, what about Bush for dragging us into a fucking war! Not that Blair wasn't fully complicit!

23. Putting on my Flame Suit: THat is Crappy journalism from the Telegraph (SHOCKING!!)
Glenn Beck speaks for Fox News the same way Keith Olbermann speaks for MSNBC....they dont. Those two are people who are being paid to give their opinion, and their opinion doesnt necessarily represent that of the networks they work for. Now Fox News probably agrees with Beck, but this is a poor way of showing it.

This is just like attributing to the NY times something Bill Kristol said.
