3. There are way better progressive radio networks than AAR

AAR was a good idea that was poorly executed by their management. But they have long since been surpassed by others that have filled the void.

5. Agreed -- they got the ball rolling but they've been eclipsed ...

If it weren't for AAR, we wouldn't have half as many
Progressive Talk stations as we do today, but unfortunately
the one that started it all has been so poorly managed that
its talent keeps leaving ... and lately I don't think
they've made many good new hires.

They're now "Air America Media," and are looking for markets outside radio.

Montel Williams isn't a bad hire if they want to branch out -- he has more name recognition than most of their personalities.

6. They were never fully "left"

They were more left than most were used to, but they always leaned more toward the "entertainment" angle...as a way to insulate themselves from the screaming-head right wingers..

From the beginning, it was less-than ...and now it's hardly even "there"..

That's the dirty little secret of the left.. the left tried to aim for fairness and equanimity.. Most liberal radio/tv hosts on "our" side just cannot "do Rush".. they always stop themselves from going all out for our side.. they always muck it up by insisting on "hearing the other side"...as if ALL the rest of the 99.9999% of 100% right wing radio did not already DO that..24-7..

We need an equal PUSH-BACK...but we will never get it..and we need to just pray that our next post-Obama candidate will be as charismatic, and as capable of raising the kind of money he did.. THAT's why he won.. he had the money to burn and he had the personality to persuade people...Most of our recent candidates have had a paucity of both..
