The real loser in the Cramer-Stewart wars? Newt Gingrich.

Keith did a story earlier this week that got overlooked because of The Daily Show vs. CNBC controversy. But I couldn't be happier about it, because it cut Newt Gingrich off at the knees.

The story was about Gingrich stepping into the Limbaugh vs. Obama controversy --he scolded those who want to see Obama fail as "irrational." Keith wondered about Gingrich's motives: partisan peacemaker or de facto party leader opportunist? David Shuster picked up on the theme the next day, featuring a rejoinder against Gingrich from Rush and a discussion with Howard Dean. "I have no idea what Newt is up to," Dean says. "I can't wait to see what the next chapter is...(The Republicans) have to rebuild their party, and (the Dems) have to screw it up!"

Especially if he sees becoming the new de facto GOP leader as a path to the 2012 Prez nomination. The Rethugs have no concept of "when you're in a hole, stop digging!"

3. it's personal for me

and a mixed bag. I love to see philandering cheats being kicked around. Newt hits a raw nerve with me that is personal and all too uncommon. On the other hand, I loves it when one of his past mistresses turned wife gets booted by the current mistress/wife wanna be.
