I'm stunned, I mean, who could've seen this coming?

Oh yeah... EVERYBODY!!!

1. That was such a farce--"It's OK, Republicans, 'cause they're getting MARRIED!"
And the GOPers fell for it.

2. Now Maybe Bristol Can Make A Break For It...
I feel sorry for Bristol...stuck in a bad situation that her mother's ambitions created and only made worse. This kid was embarassed on a worldwide level last summer and no one was fooled by the arranged shotgun marriage that was planned to save mom's butt from having to explain her own parenting abilities. The entire Palin family became props to mom's ambition and a national laughing stock.

Here's hoping that Bristol now can escape from that meth lab known as Wasilla. Many of us have known those who were forced into marriage at a young age and how poorly those shotgun marriages turned out. No one was fooled about any "love" between these kids...it was hormones that got the best of 'em...using the wrong head. At least Bristol now isn't forced into a marriage and relationship that could not only be destructive to the child, but the parents as well. Here's hoping she gets back into school, graduates and goes off to college and far, far away from that dysfunctational Palin place.

3. Good point, but
She'll probably find it difficult to leave the gravy train that her mom's position affords her, funded by the Alaskan taxpayers, Bridges to Nowhere, and other federal earmarks. If she makes a break for it, she'll go it on her own with no education, no job skills, no prospects, and no visible means of support.

I imagine her mom will cut her off quicker than Lorena Bobbit.

4. Sadly True...
Things are a bit better than when I was her age, but being a single mom at 18, 19 or 20 is like a sentence to being a drop out and reliant either on family or government to get by. I've known way too many who got caught in this trap, but also saw some who overcame...usually when their child got older; either finding a stable relationship or going back to school and restarting a life once the kid/kids are in school.

We saw last year how craven her mother was to use her family as props for her own political ambitions. It was demonstrated further just recently when Bristol did an interview and mom was standing over her shoulder, finally moving in to cut the interview short before Bristol said anything that was too embarassing. Shameful.

It all depends on the individual. I'm hopeful that Bristol has had to learn, sadly the hard way, that she can't or won't have her own life as long as she remains a captive to this dysfuncational environment.

5. It's fortunate that her family is well off. Otherwise, her life and that of her child would be

a real struggle from now on out.
