1. Temporary joy....
With all the layoffs and the credit card debt unpayable, we can expect some dark days ahead. The stock markets are no indicator of general economic improvement.

3. Hey, wingnuts...!
You've been talking about the "Obama Recession" since before he even took office.

I think it's time the rest of us, every time time Dow makes a significant gain, trumpet it loudly as the "Obama Recovery."

5. You really need to wake up. This is Organized Fraud with NO BASIS in Reality.
Edited on Thu Mar-12-09 09:19 PM by TheWatcher
This is nothing more than a Transfer Of Wealth by Brute Force based on Well Crafted Propaganda and absolutely nothing of tangible substance.

Go read the Stock Market Watch thread for the past three days and educate yourself.

This is NOT a recovery.

On Monday evening, we were facing the collapse of the entire Banking System save for JPM, and Wells Fargo, GM was collapsing, and GE was giving indications they could be Bankrupt by the first week of June.

Now, three days later, all of these Institutions are parroting the same Propaganda from a leaked Memo by the Citi CEO that has no substantive base in reality, they are all Smiling and saying "We don't need any more help, we're fine now". and everything is Puppies and Rainbows again?

Wake Up.

7. You can pin whatever cute pet names on people like me you like.
Edited on Thu Mar-12-09 09:34 PM by TheWatcher
You can call us names, call us "Doom And Gloom" Fetishists, giggle and snicker all you want.

It really doesn't bother us, and it does not change the Circumstances of the Reality that most simply ignore and will not allow themselves to see.

What you CANNOT do is refute the analysis of what we tell you and try to explain to you.

What has happened in the past three days is Artificial, Coordinated Manipulation of the Stock Markets to higher levels, that began with a leaked Memo from Vik Pandit, the CEO of Citi, claiming that they were profitable for the first two moths of the quarter.

There was no raw data or anything tangible that could be substantiated to back up anything that was in this conveniently "leaked" Memo. Nothing more than Hopes, Assurances, and Beliefs.

In the three days that have followed the other Banks have parroted the same Propaganda in lock step, and most of the "Good News" the Market is claiming to be rallying on, is nothing more than Smoke And Mirrors, and has no tangible, technical, or fundamental substance to it WHATSOEVER.

It's all "Hopes" And "Assurances", and "May Recommend", "Beliefs" and Other Propaganda designed to Manage Perception, not present an actual picture of any current reality.

It amuses me that people would rather believe well crafted Propaganda from the VERY Criminals and Thugs that helped CREATE this Crisis, and all of a sudden buy their "Hopes", "Beliefs", and "Assurances" at Face Value, instead of see them for the liars and thieves that they are.

We The People Are On Our Own.

And if you want to know why the "DU Downers" you so lovingly call us are so angry, it's because we see this Shell Game for what it is, and we can see that NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO EVEN CONFRONT THE REAL PROBLEMS, much less SOLVE THEM.

Everyone else can Drink All The Kool-Aid they want.

I'm not thirsty.

9. Then you have my sincerest of Apologies.
:hi:

I guess you have to understand when you are used to being shouted down and marginalized at every turn by a citizenry that would rather Die For A Lie than face any real or difficult truth, misunderstandings between like minds, although unfortunate, are bound to happen, and a case of "Friendly Fire" may occur.

My apologies again for the knee-jerk reaction. :)

10. People said I was mad when I said that 8000 wasn't the floor, that it would fall lower.
There was a debate I had several months ago over when to buy in. At the time, the Dow was still in the mid-8000s. I said to sit and wait, and they scoffed and said it was not going to be any lower. They didn't take my advice.

We have completely becomes a nation with nothing left to sell but hope itself. Hope and despair have become two sides of the same coin. Who knows, maybe hope will be our next bubble?
