On his site, he has all of the previous comments about Cramer and CNBC posted on the left hand side if you've missed any of them.

2. I haven't seen it yet, and I'm sure Stewart does an admirable beatdown...
...but it almost seems like when the bullies/jerks in junior high would pick on the special education kids. It's too easy. What's so difficult about beating up on a buffoon and clown like Cramer? He's low-hanging fruit.

44. Cramer has a lifetime of market experience.. I think you have it backwards
I think Cramer is the bully and Jon was kicking his ass for the little guy. Did you see Cramers appearances on NBC? Or Scarborough's show where they were all beating on Jon? Or I shouold say attempting to beat on him.

No, Cramer is not some innocent "clown" he is a hack that helped sink the economy and cost people their pensions with his ill advise. I believe Jon characterized it right. He said what Cramer and people like him did is at best stupid and at worst criminal.

55. It's not really about Cramer
More than once in the interview, Stewart emphasised that he was not singling out Cramer, that his criticism is of media financial coverage as a whole. Cramer has made this about himself, but it was clear that Stewart doesn't see it quite that way.

79. You shouldn't jump to conclusions before even watching the interview...
He doesn't 'beat him down' by a longshot. Stewart did his homework like a real journalist, with videos to back up every accusation. He didn't make it personal and it didn't seem to me that Cramer took it personally. From what I observed Stewart did the type of journalism which CNBC et al. should have been doing all along.

81. I finally saw it (didn't air in Denver 'til midnight!) and it was a beatdown.
It was a necessary one, but I'm not sure why it's Stewart's role to do the beatdown. I guess no one else will. Cramer is an idiot without any professional ethics, apparently, but it also seems that Stewart wants CNBC to be something completely different from what it has always been.

84. So you are going to actually complain because we finally have someone
acting like a real journalist? It's about fucking time. Embarrassing that it has to be Jon Stewart doing it. Think about that. Is it not absolutely ridiculous that the only guy we can even half-way trust in the media is the "fake news guy" on Comedy Central?

99. The problem is that the 'real news' sources aren't policing themselves...
and apparently it takes a comedian to get everyone to see that.

Stewart made it clear he'd rather the real news guys do that and he stick with comedy, btw. Thank goodness he was decent enough to stand up and call it for the scheming that it is.

105. No. Stewart wants CNBC to do its job. Report the FINANCE NEWS
and if they are going to say they are "experts", they should behave as such, not try to help Wall St. bilk us out of our savings. I think you need to watch it again. You've not gotten the message. They are liars and accomplices to the crime masquerading as financial professionals to help out the common man or whoever their audience happens to be.

and I just watched this again.
Jon Stewart pwned GECNBC.

The truth he spoke about them is applicable to all of M$Greedia. For eight years they were cheer-leaders for all the evil associated with the Bush regime. Not once did they ask a tough question. Investigative journalism was absent for years. Bill Moyers always did his homework. Olbermann and then Rachel finally broke the mold at GEM$NBC.

Boy, I've always loved Jon Stewart, but last night's show went above and beyond what I'd hoped for. Jon is an expert at dismantling the BS that all of the "real" news commentators let these guys get away with. He is such a nice guy in the process that even the people he is dismembering can't really complain that he is being unfair or nasty.

Though Stewart was never rude, he didn't pull any punches or make little jokes to lighten the mood. He was direct, informed, and much smarter than I would have ever given him credit for.

There were a few times when I almost felt sorry for Cramer. I thought he was going to cry. Why on earth did he ever agree to go on the show? He didn't come armed with any real defenses, apparently because he doesn't have any. I'm thinking his career is over.

To make sure Jon was on the front page. K&R. I've never been much into "hero" worship but goddamn, he let Cramer have it with both barrels while Cramer sat there and had to take his lumps.

To bad it's up to a comedian to show this stuff. I guess Glen BEck is too busy with his end of the world predictions to actually do something for the people he claims to speak for.

Edited on Fri Mar-13-09 11:23 PM by defendandprotect
aggressive references about it ---

I think Jon is almost lawyer like -- and wonderfully fair.

And, he is a very dangerous LISTENER ---

I think Cramer could only have respect for Stewart --

though he may hate him as he understands what Jon has done to their

careers in "financial entertainment" --- !!!

I don't know that Jon ever used the words "immoral" -- but I think he

made clear that this was "FU'd" idea of game-playing by the network!

Cramer, unashamedly, continued to claim that he, personally, was

"just wrong" at times re his financial calls and/or tried to joke.

And Jon continued to show tapes making it painfully clear what was going on.

I don't know who might have been listening to this guy in the first place,

but I wouldn't ask him for the right time!

Yeah, I can see that MSNBC wouldn't want this mentioned above a whisper --

preferably only in the basement!!!

75. I have loved Jon for years. He is on FIRE right now. If you aren't mad and all that. (n/t)
Jon (and his staff) ARE paying attention, and are angry (and funny) with complete justification.

the lies and the slime called Wall Street.

107. He has all top 5 threads on the homepage due to his 'heroics' slamming the shady practices of Cramer
and his criminal cohorts laughed all the way to the banks in Switzerland.

Jon Stewart deserves a TV award next year for this episode - and will get it! Enjoy the Emmy, Jon!
