After Being Eviscerated By Jon Stewart, Cramer Skips Morning Show Appearance

Last night, CNBC’s Jim Cramer had a brutal face-off with The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart. “I understand that you want to make finance entertaining, but it’s not a f*cking game,” Stewart told Cramer. Cramer also agreed to do one show with more serious, level-headed commentary.

There has been almost universal acknowledgment that Stewart humiliated Cramer. Jim Fallows called it a “slaughter,” and the Huffington Post has a gigantic headline reading, “Jon Stewart eviscerates Jim Cramer and CNBC.” Even Fox and Friends host Steve Doocy said that Stewart “rightfully” attacked Cramer: “Jim Cramer, on his show, has made many — has said ‘buy this stock because it’s going to go up,’ and then it tanks. He told people to buy Bear Stearns and hold it, just before it completely went to zero.”

As Michael Calderone notes, yesterday on Twitter, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough wrote that he would have the “exclusive Jim Cramer interview tomorrow morning to discuss tonight’s war with Jon Stewart.” But after the rough night, Scarborough wrote this morning that Cramer was a no-show:

No Cramer. Perhaps another example of oversleeping. Guess he had a late night. That is too bad. Producers told he was only talking to us.

Sure, Santelli took a hit for canceling TDS. But look at the even BIGGER hit that Cramer took by NOT canceling. Santelli has a chance of holding on to his credibility if not his job. Cramer's future is anyone's guess.

Maybe he should go to Disneyland like Bobby Jindal did--no, wait, Disneyland is an ABC property.

3. Stewart gave Cramer a message to deliver to "Doucheborough".
I guess it will go undelivered.

5. I have to wonder
if CNBC's legal department told him to STFU. Jon put them in the same bed with the bankers.

10. CNBC bosses must know that they cannot win this war
Their only option is to pin it all on Cramer, let Cramer take the rap, stop engaging the enemy (Jon Stewart).

Stewart has won this war. CNBC will now keep quiet and hope people will eventually forget all about it.

12. Nope...
The people on CNBC right now are sniping at Mr. Stewart. Saying that the Fed Chairman should go on Stewart's show instead of 60 Minutes to make his case about how he plans to tackle the downturn.

6. Considering Cramer promised to retool his entire show..
I think he has a bit more on his mind than talking to Mourning Joe, who is also a big part of the overall media problem.

I can't wait to see how all this pans out over the next few weeks. Meanwhile Cramer, better get busy dismantling your entire studio. :)

we'd see Cramer anymore...

I hope the new SEC people light in on him next.

11. Cramer cannot keep lying now that he has been so publicly outed..
no lies...no show...he can't tell the truth because that implicates his bosses.

15. Idiot Cramer was "ambushed"
Edited on Fri Mar-13-09 11:12 AM by sallylou666
Cramer seriously underestimated Jon Stewart. Jon Stewart could beat Cramer with one lobe tied behind his back.

19. He wasn't ambushed - that denotes a negative action on the part of Stewart
Like when O'Reilly has his crew surprise people getting their mail with attack questions.

Cramer brought a pillow to a gunfight. He was simply out-classed.
