I joined a group of journalists lunching with Samuel J. Wurzelbacher – who, as anyone not living under a rock last fall knows, catapulted to instant fame by coaxing Barack Obama into the semi-socialist declaration that he wanted to “share the wealth” as president....

How does he see the new president, whom he credits in his book for being “gracious” when Joe put him on the spot? “He’s a politician and I know he’s lying.”...

Not that Joe holds many of his fellow citizens in the highest regard, either: “I want people to be responsible for their own actions, get off the government tit, Note: Classy! and actually work. They don’t work, they don’t survive, then they die. I’m sorry, life’s not fair. I’m sick and tired of people whining and crying about it.” Note: Wurzelbacher has been on welfare at least two times that I know if.

Why should Americans "get off the tit" if we are the ones who put the milk into the tit to start with? Sorry "Sam the douche" but you are the last one with a right to lecture your fellow citizens having suckled at the bosom of those government services. You know what though Sammy...I am glad that you were able to rely on the "common good" during a time in your life when you needed extra help. I myself have not had to use any extraordinary services, not through my "rugged individualism" but through a combination of my own efforts, good fortune, and family assistance. I have however, benefited immensely from having paved roads, clean water, electricity 24 hours a day, and many other services which have only been possible through the combined efforts of the citizenry in the form of taxes and government projects. I may grumble about taxes at times, but you know what? I am happy to pay a little more out of my salary, or purchases, or investments so that other of my fellow HUMAN BEINGS can get some assistance when they need it.

I can also be honest about the fact that some groups of people in this country do not get the same opportunity to succeed as others and you my boy are in the group which has and continues to reserve the largest piece of the opportunity pie for themselves. I have been fortunate enough to have moderate success through the help of the collective, therefore I do not mind giving back so that others get an equal opportunity. For you to decry that Sam, is ridiculous.
