Hey Bernie ....... how'd ya sleep last night?
Did all that crazy yelling keep you awake? Did you wet your pants when that big guy with the eyes that are not quite right looked at you funny? Did you miss a nice wine with your dinner? Were the scratchy sheets on your thin mattress set onto a steel shelf less comfortable on your pampered bloated ass than are those silk jobbies back at the penthouse?

Fuck you, Bernie. I hope you never again in your worthless life get a good, restful night's sleep.

8. No sheets in that slammer
Not for a good long time. Old Bernie ain't gonna get the chance to rip them into strips and use them to hang himself.

No matter how bad you visualize the place where he is right now, let me assure you that it's far worse. Honestly. I've been there. You don't ever want to see it, let alone have to sit down on anything in that place.

15. I've actually had the misfortune to see the inside of a bunch of prisons and jails as part of ......
..... work assignments.

Invariably my butt cheeks tighten. And I do **not** mean that in a sexual way. It is deadly scary in there. My irrational fear is to get separated from my group and then have my ID lifted and then have to try to prove I belong on the outside looking in. ("Yeah, sure. Get in the corner, you fucking clown.")

As a medic I went into jails more than once
I know exactly what you mean, and I had to watch my gear like a hawk... what better for a shank than my trauma shears

4. I don't know why, but it's hard for me ...

....to really believe he had to stay in a regular cell like anyone else would. Do you think it's so?? (Isn't it pathetic that I have to ask?)

I'm surprised he even got sent to jail, Wall Street crooks always seem to walk away with just slap on the wrist.

24. Yeah, I was actually expecting him to "die" to get out of his prison sentence
and then run off to some place where he can't be extradited. Just like Kenron Lay did.

I doubt I'll believe he's a real jail until I see undoctored pictures.

6. I don't think he liked it..
His attorneys filed an appeal for his release until his sentencing in 3 months. I think the bastard needs to stay there.

7. You know where Bernie Madoff got his formative years?
no, most people don't and does not mean I feel sorry for him

But I'd ask, did he have flashbacks to the barracks at Aushwitz.

Food for thought, when you wish ill on other people

By the way. due to that experience and what I know from survivors from multiple messes, didn't surprise me either. That is what he did.

9. Huh?
Madoff was born in NYC and grew up in Rockaway, out on the Island. He was never in a concentration camp.

25. On the other hand, since many of the victims of his crimes were elderly Jews
I'll bet some of them WERE actual concentration camp survivors. Which would make it all the more disgusting if Madoff was circulating such a story about himself, or allowing others to do so on his behalf.

28. There was no "story" circulating -
Bernie Madoff's life was well-documented before this whole scandal was made public. He never claimed any kind of concentration camp experience.

This is another one of the "Obama is a Muslim" kind of rumor that gets legs when people are just too lazy to go do the checking themselves. Look up Madoff's biography - it's right there, online, for the world to see - and his place of birth, schooling, they're all right there.

Perhaps some of the investors were Holocaust survivors. Elie Wiesel certainly was, and that's a bit more heartbreaking. But, in a very good NY Times article today, Joseph Nocera makes the point that the Madoff investors were greedy and lazy and broke all the rules of smart investing by putting everything that had in one place. He notes that there were not many institutional investors who went with Madoff, simply because he never passed the most basic "smell test."

It's a good article: http://tinyurl.com/c5enlv

17. My aunt was a concentration camp survivor. I fail to see how that would have excused her
if she had chosen to rob people of billions of dollars and destroy their lives. I really don't think that would serve as either an excuse or a reason for anyone to do so.

My mom was orphaned at seven and had an absolutely horrific childhood filled with all manner of unspeakable abuse but she was a kind, wise and very patient mother and a great person who lived a simple life and was always kind to others. I just don't think that terrible events in a person's past can be used to reason away poor choices they make and crimes they commit in the here and now. By that line of reasoning my aunt and mother should have been holed up together in a bell-tower, shooting black tar and taking out nuns with blow-darts while simultaneously releasing chlorofluorocarbons into the ozone layer and clubbing baby seals.

18. Not an excuse, at all
my dad is also a vet of the hitler travel plan

But as a red cross worker we saw an interesting pattern with survivors from the CA mess

Most folks adjusted well, relatively speaking, thank you very much

But a few, you may ask if the trigger was the life experience, have done rather anti social behavior, This is rather anti social

I asked an ICRC rep once if this was a pattern. He said it was. Why they tried to give more and more help to try to diminish this

Not an excuse whatsoever... just a reaction that is seen from time to time among conflict survivors

20. There are so many variables in the human experience
I have to wonder if you adjust for things like income and education level, if any demonstrable correlation remains.

I'll have to put that on the pile of stuff I'm curious about, but don't have the time to properly research.

14. If that's true
that makes what he did to Elie Wiesel's charity incredibly worse. I hope he goes to the "special" hell reserved for child molesters and people who talk in the theatre.

And I didn't check on the story... bad, bad me

that said, survivors from many of these messes at times do things like that... regardless of war

26. Make it a big rope.
Maybe he can hang himself and slip on the soap, causing a slow and painful death. Look at the state of the lives of the people he's ruined. I need a good reason to find any form of respect for the creep.
