Saw a truck today with these stickers:
"W: Thank You"

"IN A TIME OF WAR AND TERROR, CALLING FOR PEACE IS NOT PATRIOTIC - IT'S COWARDICE!" ("Cowardice" in big red letters)

I almost threw up. Yeah, thank you, W, for ruining the country! And wanting peace instead of war is cowardice???

They also had a sticker reading "Four Years and Out" which, I'm assuming, refers to Obama.

Some crazy-ass people out there.

2. Yeah, man
things are great. Thanks for everything W, you piece of shit. This post makes me appreciate what I saw yesterday even more.
We were coming up behind a truck, and the first thing I saw was a sticker of a skull and crossbones with a whole slew of bumper stickers. Naturally I braced myself for anything as we got close enough to read the stickers. To my delight I saw: "Love is Love", "Vote no on 1"- the nasty ass same-sex discrimination ballot initiative in Virginia in 2006, "One Nation Undereducated", "Vote for Equal Rights for All".
:-)

3. I've confronted people, like that
For several years, I was a part of a Peace group, that met every Sunday afternoon. Every once in a while, someone would pull up, either with similar bumper stickers, or just spewing the rhe neocon talking points.

I used to carry enlistment forms, with me. As soon as they'd start up, I'd offer them a form, and tell them when they've had their boots to the ground, I'll listen to them talk about war. If they gave me a hard time, I'd pull the Veterans card, on them. (I always wore my Veterans for Kerry or Veterans for Obama button). Inevitably, they'd suddenly get an attack of chickenhawk-itis. The symtoms are, a sudden neck spasm that forced them to look straight ahead, and become mute and deaf.

8. that's good!
I hate the idea of embarrassing somebody, but when you get people like that who try to demean others in the first place you have to hold your ground. I only had one person I ever had to confront before. He was my brother's friend and was in my apartment once and he kept negatively using the word "liberal" doing the typical RW tactic of implying liberals are wimps etc until finally I said: "I'm a liberal, do you have a problem with that?" and I gave him a hard look for a few seconds. He just stuttered around while saying something about respecting all views etc.

Most of that stuff a person can let go because usually anybody who says it is just a blowhard, but, at the same time, you can only take so much. A few times I've had to say something to people I know in emails and on the phone, but, in person, the story I just told was the only time. You have to stick up for what you believe in and call out hypocrisy if necessary.

4. Why's this super patriot out driving around?
Should be in Iraq or Afghanistan, fightin' war and terror.

Astonishing the people who apparently are issued licenses to drive automobiles.

6. Yeah haha, it's cowardly to start a war for no reason
while the people who actually attacked you get away. I always loved the genius of that logic.

7. I'm sure he had war medals hanging from his rearview mirror, too.
No matter. I'm sure it took plenty of courage to slap those stupid slogans on his truck and drive around in a country full of baby-killing, gay-loving, latte-drinking, tax-and-spend pinko-commies.
