When is DU's Birthday? - and where can we find other DU info?
.
.
.

I'd be curious to find out who the first 100 members were

the hundred DUers with the most posts

the hundred DUers with the most seniority

and other stuff like that

Do we have a forum/thread that we can find that stuff out?

DU's gotta be close to 10 years old ?

approaching puberty -

oh boy . . .

. :silly:

There are probably a few people way up there, but I'm not sure. IndianaGreen comes to mind.

6. They unfurled a banner at the chimp's inaugural parade in Jan 2001
When I saw the democraticunderground.com banner, I went right to the site. I must have been one of the first visitors.

I lurked for awhile, then got an account in 2001, but it got lost in the shuffle, as I was not too computer savvy back then.

16. I googled and couldn't find any images of it.
I wonder if Skinner or the other admins have a pic.

It was great. It was a big long banner as I remember. :hi:

13. Trajan - well thanks alot for that - it was informative and entertaining
.
.
.

Maybe all DUers should have to read that

and yes - I read it all

here's a clip from the last page

DAY 7 (FRI) - A WEEK? ALREADY?
And so a roller coaster week had passed. Seven days felt more like seventy - probably because we'd worked about seventy hours each since the site launched. And so, to recap:

Day 1: Got wet. Got on TV. Received hundreds of personal insults.
Day 2: Received hundreds of personal insults. Had a fight.
Day 3: Discovered organized plot to shut site down. Ignored hundreds of personal insults.
Day 4: Insulted conservatives, each other. Disinfected message boards.
Day 5: Earned real money. Beer.
Day 6: Made new friends, relaxed.
Day 7: Received hundreds of personal insults. Wrote the whole thing down.

again

thanx

18. You can see everyone's member number by passing your cursor over any of the little icons at the top
of their post, as long as you have your computer set up to show URLs when you pass your cursor over a hyperlink. Not sure how it works in all browsers, but it shows up in a bar at the bottom of the window for IE and Netscape.

Anyway, subtract 100,000 from the number you see at the end of URL and that's the member number -- the order in which you registered at DU. For example, if you pass your cursor over the profile icon in my post, you'll see the number 106679. I am member number 6679 -- I've been here since fall of 2001.

The number that shows when the cursor is hovered over YOUR profile icon is 123712, which makes you member number 23,712. Clicking on your profile reveals that you joined in 2003, before July 6 and that you have 8199 posts.

Also, when you click on someone's profile, their number will also show at the end of the URL that shows up at the TOP of your window as well.

I posted about this a couple months ago -- which turned into a long-ass thread: Do you know that you can see your DU registration number? Don't know if you want wade through all that, but you can get a rough idea of which registration numbers came in which years by what people posted.

19. KOOL - thanks alot scarlet lady -
.
.
.

and I'm not interested in wading through all that

But I thought I joined earlier

I know I joined around the USA's invasion of Iraq,

but there was a glitch there around my joining time that the actual dates where a member joined was lost . .

Thanks for your input/response

:hi:

21. I'm glad you saw my post. It IS fun to check out people's registration numbers.
BTW, back when I posted that thread in January, I did a bunch of research on the earlier numbers.

Here's what I discovered:
~The first registration number in 2002 is 8,208.
~The first registration number in 2003 is 20,010.

Don't ask how many hours I spent figuring that out... :P
