Just so you have it straight

1 - It is illegal to feed the homeless in Las Vegas.

2 - If, on the other hand, you are an unfortunate citizen who dwells in this humble habitat:

not only is it legal to accept enormous boatloads of gravy from the public, it would violate a legal contract if the government attempted to interrupt your loud slurping from the trough.

I'm IDemo, and this has been "Screwed!". Join us next week, won't you?

1. Your first link -
the story is two-and-one-half years old.

Do you know if the law was upheld on challenge?

Is it currently illegal to feed the homeless in those cities' parks?

It looks like a US District Court judge ruled last September against the enforcement of the Orlando law, calling it a civil rights violation.

I have edited the OP, thanks.

3. I wonder
what the current situation in Las Vegas is.

That's about the most fucked up thing imaginable. I wonder how the people who came up with that brilliant idea are feeling now, as the numbers of homeless increase, as they see, perhaps, their friends or their neighbors or even some of the family members joining those awful people who are probably hungry as well as without a home.

The mean-spiritedness of some people never fails to amaze me and never fails to piss me off.

Thanks for the information, though. It's a good thing to keep in mind.........

I'm sorry to screw around with your wonderful post, but, as an old lawyer, I can't help doing research whenever laws are mentioned.

This is a good one, though: http://tinyurl.com/bst79m

Edited to add:

There are quite a few cities which enforced laws against feeding the homeless in one way or another - http://tinyurl.com/d8zfyj - but this article is about two years old, so it would be interesting to see if those laws survived the inevitable challenges I'm sure they inspired.

Weenies. Friggin' well-fed weenies who call themselves "good Americans," I bet, and probably "good Christians," as well.

Thank you very much for reminding me of a very real problem...........
