So the bastards at corporate have found a new way to cut health benefits
Working retail just gets better and better!

So the company just rolled out a new policy. It used to be forever that a person could use his/her vacation, PH, (or in some states that people are legally required to get it) sick time to compensate for lost hours. So, for example, say you typically qualify for benefits. Let's say this one week you get your hours reduced to 28. (you need 32 to qualify for benefits)

Oh shit now you can lose your benefits right? Well, you could fill out a form and use 4 vacation or personal holiday hours to get your hours back up.... which can be vitally important these days as poor sales due to the bad economy result in random unpredictable hours cuts.

Well the company just sent out mass letters to everyone company wide informing them that from now on using vacation/PH hours to get your average hours back up is no longer permitted. So get your hours cut? Kiss your health insurance goodbye.

This is one of the biggest retailers in the world so don't tell me they don't have the cash to support benefits.

I wonder how much longer these mega corporations can find ways to screw us before something snaps.

1. Quite a while longer. You are still working there.
It doesn't stop until a tidal wave of people say "no more" and quit, even though it means major sacrifice.

2. Sounds like some republican logic if I ever heard it
Mega corporations screws thousands of workers? Well, get another job. Of course no guarantee they won't do the same.

3. It's not a "republican argument". It's an argument for the need of unions.

EDIT: Whether or not that posted so intended it.

4. You misunderstood.
You are assuming I suggested people "get another job" in response to corporate abuses. Quite the opposite. I suggest total withdrawal from the workforce, or self-employment at the minimum.

Only widespread non-participation will make an impact. As long as people continue to accept and do these jobs, the corporations will crack down with impunity, because they hold all the cards.

So I'm calling for work-refusal and general strike - how Republican is that?

6. Someone needs to sit these GOP turds down
...and read to them the following passages of the bible that was probably cut out of whatever version of the bible the GOP uses these days;

"There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'

"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony.'" (Luke 16:19-25)

7. Jesus also emphasizes the point
The rich and worldly "already have their reward." The last will be first, and the first will be last.
