Al Jazeera English's "Witness" series carried this documentary on the (poor) women's fight for rights in India. The program began with a short description of the caste system, and noting that Dalit (untouchable) women had even less rights or expectation of justice. The Dalit woman who initiated the fight back is interviewed, and the documentaary describes the growth and goals of this justice movement.
(For those who haven't taken a look, Al Jazeera English has a great deal of coverage of people's struggles for justice and other conflicts around the world that rarely get even a brief mention on US corporatist TV channels. The following program was on force-fattening of girls in Mauritania because that made them more desirable/valuable.)
