Holt Bill Would Create Commission to Probe 2001 Anthrax Attacks

Dissatisfied with the FBI’s probe of the 2001 anthrax attacks and concerned about future bioterrorism, a senior member of the House Intelligence Committee wants a Sept. 11-style commission to do an independent probe.

Legislation (HR 1248) by Democrat Rush D. Holt — who represents the New Jersey area where some of the anthrax-laced letters were mailed from — would create a commission to investigate the 2001 attacks and the federal government’s response. Wielding subpoena power, the panel would also make recommendations for preventing and responding to bioterrorism in the future.

“This is certainly not plowing over old ground or witch hunting,” Holt said. “It’s an unresolved case. And it really must be understood if we’re going to guard against what many people say is the greatest large-scale threat facing the country, which is bio-attack and emerging biological pathogens.”

It was anthrax from US government stocks. It appears there has been a huge cover up by government about the source of the anthrax and how it got where it got. The "suicided" scientist could not have done it.
