My Morning Prayer - I realize Barack Obama cannot fix everything immediately
I realize that every issue has powerful forces on the other side

I realize that Obama takes a strategic view instead of a revolutionary's view

I believe he pokes and prods and opens long suppressed issues for discussion

I believe everything he touches comes out incrementally better, though maybe not to my liking

I believe he has chosen to engage in his fight from within the system, because if he did not he would be posting on DU

No matter how hard I take him to task - and it is something I fully intend to do because he actually NEEDS me to do that, I support him. Maybe not like a 2nd grade suburban girl supports the Jonas Brothers, but I continue to believe he has my best interests at heart and he is doing it the way he thinks he can accomplish the most amount of good.

Are you saying that people who post on DU do not engage in the fight and work from with in? Because it's certainly not the case.

2. I know. Not meant to be a slight. Just saying a President has more power than a poster on DU

3. It's an MLK/Malcom X distinction...
Feminists also make use of an analogous distinction.

Fix the broken ship by (a) burning the damn thing to the ground and starting over, or (b) 1 plank at a time, so that you can still sail on it, while you're repairing it.

There are plusses and minuses to both approaches.
