bringing back the idea of america
The america portrayed by history never existed. Immigrants were not welcomed with open arms; instead they greeted with suspicion (typical reaction of insular thinking); corruption has been around since day one; the Constitution itself is a farce since blacks are not given any rights when 20% of them made up the total population; all men are born equal was blatant proof that people will swallow anything (all or most of the framers were slave owners) and so on and on.
There are only three ways to bring this country back to some sense. Lets see some ceo's and politicians doing serious time in Leavenworth, in the same cell as bubba and eating the same food; lets keep money away from the whole process otherwise a politician will always favor the biggest check (and dont call it campaign contributions its bribery) and finally keep religion in the closet where it belongs. It never ceases to amaze me how in this century the rantings and ravings of ignorant zealots who hadn't a clue about science, should still have so many firm believers. Swallowed by a big fish? Oh please and while jonah was sitting in a stomach somewhere with no oxygen and with strong stomach acids eating away at him, we had a flood which killed all the living creatures (except for ducks and fish).
The only difference between us and Bin Laden is the language. We drop napalm; he flies planes into buildings. When the killing is done he prays to Allah and we toodle off to church to confess and then start over. If i didn't know i was living all this i would think i was having a cosmic nightmare.
Ok am ready for the insults but make them intelligent pls.

3. uh, do you have any appreciation for logic?
In one breath you point out that the U.S. has never been the nation portrayed in history, and in the next you advocate bringing America back to some sense. Beyond that, your screed is simplistic and hackneyed. Had you presented any intelligence in your post, your petulant demand for intelligent responses (insults) might have some validity.

But let's look at your demands/suggestions. You state that only by suppressing religion, throwing certain people in Leavenworth and removing money from politics can we "get back to some sense". I'd suggest that there are many ways of improving the political system and the country- not just three. Far more effective regulation of corporations, striking corpoate personhood, reforming the Criminal Justice system. Those are just three suggestions.

As for your puerile swipe at people who are religious, do you really think that MLK should have been kept stuffed in the closet? Religion has played roles that are both negative and positive in the history of our country. And not all people who are religious are bigots or idiots. Yes, government needs to keep a wall between itself and religion, but that doesn't mean that people who are religious don't have a right to engage. And not all Christians believe that the bible is literally true.

As for the silly comparison to bin Ladin, well, that hardly merits a response.

4. thank you
oh wise one for your studied response. Kindly note that i did not mention bringing america back to what it should have been (the shining beacon etc) but a return to common sense. Remember common sense?
As for the other points, if you read some history, and i dont mean yesterdays games, you will notice that whenever religion takes over governance, that particular country sinks into a cess pool of ignorance, backwardness, bigotry, persecution and death. Remember the Hugenots? What was their crime A different point of view which might cause political mayhem. But isn't life on earth supposed to be a prelude to the next life and being closer to god? So why the fuss?
Excuse me, but anyone believing that, for example Noah, who lived in what is now northern Iraq, was able to build a boat that should have been the size of at least an aircraft carrier. And where, pray tell, living in Iraq did he find Llamas? Or kangaroos?
I believe that the number of people in that ship was 8. An elephant can drop several tons of excrement a day which means that when you start cleaning stable A and find yourself back at the beginning there is another round to do. As for food, where is that stored? Have you any idea how much food is necessary for feeding giant pachyderms? So we can assume that the men who are doing the cleaning leave the feeding to the women who again, once they have finished their rounds, start again.
Who is there to clean the ship since breathing ammonia (poop) can cause sever reaction from the brain including hallucinations.
Now as for your dismissal of the silly comparison to Bin Laden, let me remind you that the Nazis were tried for crimes against humanity, conspiring to start a war of aggression and one another which has slipped my mind. They do it in Arabic and we do it in English.
So put away your silly patriotism, back off your indefensible protection of the fairy tales we call the bible and, gasp, use your brain!!
I am assuming of course that you do possess one.
