Who Did Cheney Have Murdered?
by Robert Arend - http://www.opednews.com/articles/Who-Did-Cheney-Have-Murder-by-Robert-Arend-090315-473.html

There is a kind of hush, that started with a muted gasp, that came from whispers of Cheney assassination squads,
murmured by Seymour Hersh during topic "America's Constitutional Crisis" at the University of Minnesota on March 10, 2009.

"It's an executive assassination ring essentially, and it's been going on and on and on," Hersh stated. "Under President Bush's authority,
they've been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing
them and leaving. That's been going on, in the name of all of us."
Source: rawstory/March_11_2009. http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Hersh_US_has_been_running_executive_0311.html

Mr Hersh made reference to a March 9, 2009 New York Times story "U.S.Halted Some Raids in Afghanistan" that revealed
"The commander of a secretive branch of America's Special Operations forces last month ordered a halt to most commando missions
in Afghanistan, reflecting a growing concern that civilian deaths caused by American firepower are jeopardizing broader goals there."

But is this new news or old news, given fresh exposure after breaking through from new media to old media ......

... the New York Times printed a story headlined : "American Hit Squads: Rumsfeld Weighs Covert Activities by Military Units" back on August 12, 2002. Authors Thom Shanker and James Risen wrote: "Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld is considering ways to expand broadly the role of American Special Operations forces in the global campaign against terrorism, including sending them worldwide to capture or kill Al Qaeda leaders far from the battlefields of Afghanistan, according to Pentagon and intelligence officials". "Proposals now being discussed by Mr. Rumsfeld and senior military officers could ultimately lead Special Operations units to get more deeply involved in long-term covert operations in countries where the United States is not at open war and, in some cases, where the local government is not informed of their presence. This expansion of the military's involvement in clandestine activities could be justified, Pentagon officials believe, by defining it as "preparation of the battlefield" in a campaign against terrorism that knows no boundaries." ...............

4. His name was Gus Weiss,
and he was my friend.

After years in the White House, some of that time on Kissinger's staff, Gus told a few of his friends that he was going to go public with his criticism of the Iraq invasion.

He was found dead behind his Watergate co-op building, and he was buried before his death was even announced.

I never for one moment believed he was anything but murdered, silenced.

7. How terrible. What explanation for his death was given to his family?
Are any of his family members or colleagues calling for an investigation?

15. No, the threat is very real as are the enemies, but they arise in opposition to imperialism.
Imperialism is the creative force of their own political opposition.
Just ask the people of Gaul about Julius Caesar!

Was slavery a sham front for fighting the South? Hardly.
If there had been no slavery, there would have been no Civil War.
If you suppress and enslave people, strife follows and they do fight back.

Al Qaeda openly states they oppose the USA military in foreign nations. So do I, but I also oppose their violence.
The FMLN "leftists" opposed US corporate control in Latin America. So did I. That's a no-brainer.

I'm a pacifist, which is an easy thing while you are not occupied by foreign armies.
But, invade and occupy my country, and I'll attack your core if I can, of course!
there is nothing sham about our predicament, nor is it difficult to understand.

8. Evidently this has been going on for years,
acording to John Parsons who wrote about it in "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man". The difference is that that was more corporate and this allegedly involves the highest levels of the gov't.

14. That all fine but this is not something that even Rumsfeld knew about
What was mentioned was a unit not reporting through DOD - so even though Rumsfeld may have had and used illegal forces this one that is being discussed now is even worse than that.

I presume that this using actually exists - and that may be a bad presumption.

16. DING, DING. You got it! The "fall-back" spin is turning into a snowstorm.
We are not dealing with an accusation of the usual military unit.
This is about a special squad operating out of military channels.

19. No, actually, he needs to be questioned--
under conditions that flag any evasion or lies immediately.

Not sure even a trial would extract the info. he's guarding. But remember, "Dead men tell no tales" , and that's just as true here as in the usual scenario.
