3. I vote for Cenk and Sam Seder to co-host a show
both are funny and brilliant.

Big Ed is ok if you can handle the ego.

13. Many people I'd rather see before big Eddy - Jon Stewart for instance
but he's acceptable to the corporations, I guess.
Stewart gave a good audition as news man the other night.
Bring back Donohue.
Sam Seder.
Maybe give Moyers an hour or how about Amy Goodman?

*Schultz didn't make this poll because he didn't make the top 5 on the previous TVNewser poll. And for the record, while I'm not personally a fan of Schultz I consider him to be a very valuable pro-labor voice that can appeal to moderates/centrists of both parties.

4. Excellent! Progressivism is on the rise! It is now profitable for at least one cable network.
Ijust hope Morning Joe's numbers are also rapidly falling!

7. Not use progressives is NEVER about "profitability" ---
Over and again you see that in #1 hosts/shows -- like Phil Donahue being pushed out of NBC.

Many other examples. This is just right-wing corporations running all media.

6. safe choice
but Ed is not as informed as he should be. Someone with a little more intellect (instead of the jockness) would be preferable.

It's hard to compete with a Rachel or a Schuster--they are sharp as tacks.

8. Agree . . . he's pleasant but not much on information ----which is probably why MSNBC
wants him -- not much of a threat!

9. why are those traitors still running the pigmedia?
Schultz should point out the newsmedia has been effectively LYING to the voter for 2 decades, and have destroyed the basis of trust, so no thanks. Government is 'socialism run amok' and the pigmedia are too instinctively dishonest to just say that, knowing it'll expose them, like bush has done, so watch the punkees screw around and pretend they're opening up the shop. Meanwhile, watch them quietly reconfigure the bush gang as a 'socialist' operation, with Obama's just following up

10. The good thing about Ed
is that he might be able to reach the "good ol' boy" demographic. That is sorely needed. Too many guys that would benefit from progressive, pro-union, labor policies vote Republican by default (I think they associate it with patriotism, manhood, ect..). Get Big Eddie yapping at them and they might figure out they can be a huntin', fishin', meat-eating union democrat and that's ok.

12. It is ok
I am a huntin', fishin', meat eating Union Democrat and I am comfortable with that. And I hope Ed Schultz gets his own show on MSNBC. I'll watch.

16. Ugh... Cenk is the guy they want... Fearlessly takes on serious issues...
Schultz is weak (not unlike Bill Maher by the way) and that's the last thing anyone needs is another wishy-washy Chris Matthews type who one day puts someone in check for their BS and the next lets an even bigger lie go through unchecked.

17. You know who my first choice is, but there are some good reasons to like Schultz IMO (see # 15).
Edited on Mon Mar-16-09 03:06 PM by ihavenobias
I'd much rather have him get the job than another Scarborough or Tucker Carlson!

Cenk may have taken a hit by calling out CNBC so much lately:

20. I know some people here don't like him (mainly because he's pro-RKBA and not exactly a policy wonk)
but I like him. He could bring some people over to our side. Unfortunately, if he's given the 10pm slot....I don't know how many conservatives there would be to bring over.
