GOP 'trackers' stalk Dems in hunt for 'macaca' moment
What a bunch of little shits. Has ANYONE come up with a viable rebuttal to what the new admin is doing, or do they just want to play games? So juvenile...

GOP 'trackers' stalk Dems in hunt for 'macaca' moment

By David Lightman | McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON — Rep. Chris Carney was walking down a Capitol Hill street when suddenly — bam — an anonymous Republican with a video camera who'd been following him asked him a question that was intended to embarrass the Pennsylvania Democrat.

The interviewer asked first about a single provision in the massive economic stimulus bill, then asked if Carney was going to be "ready to vote tomorrow."

An irritated Carney answered: "Like I told you before, if I see the damn package, I'll have an answer."

A "macaca" moment meant to replayed on the Internet and possibly wound a vulnerable Democrat?

That's the goal. A video of former Virginia Republican Sen. George Allen's offhand racial slur of an Indian-American Democratic campaign volunteer helped lead to his defeat in 2006.

The National Republican Congressional Committee is sending out video "trackers" to ask provocative questions of Democratic members of Congress. The trackers, who are congressional committee staffers, were earlier reported by Congress Daily, a specialty publication distributed largely on Capitol Hill.

18. the actual stalkers are being paid to stalk
and probably need the job. Hell, these days I'd do it if I had the opportunity, just to feed and house the family...

It's ok, though. Forewarned is forearmed. Most likely all they'll catch on film are some great one-liners

8. Why go to Carney? They don't need videotape to prove that he is a deceitful liar
they just need to read about how he lied about being pro-choice and supportive of gay rights to get money from the Blue America PAC.

10. Gee, exactly how Allen was taken down
Except that nobody provoked Allen, nobody had to "trap" him into revealing his latent racism, nobody had to bait him with a loaded question, nobody had to try to embarrass him. Nope, Allen was a racist scumbag all on his own, and the Democrats just had to attend his public events and bide their time.

11. The NRCC is *paying* for this. This is their idea of political opposition.
The GOP is like a party run by third graders. It must be incredibly embarrassing to be a sane, old school Republican these days. Their party is gone, replaced with a mindless, yammering collection of nitwits.

15. Like their party's leader said, "I want Obama to fail."

.... and the same goes for anyone else affiliated with the Democratic Party as well.

After eight long years of the corrupt and inept BushCo Regime, it will take a lot of

effort on their part to even come close to look only slightly as bad by comparison.

16. Big Deal...
The reason the macaca moment had an impact was Allen's past. Many knew he was a racist...he had a long history of racist remarks and had that confederate flag proudly on display in his office...quite an accomplishment from a kid who grew up in that confederate bastion of Southern California. The video just emphasized how deep that racism was to those who knew it was there and alerted others who hadn't noticed to take a look. A attack only works when there's a basis for it...a history...a way to link it to the candidate.

It's about time the GOOP started doing this. Who knows, they may strike gold on something, but they do so at their own peril. So, if Carney says something awful...that opens the door to having a flood of rushpublican hissy fits and verbal abuse come out. Their track record in this area isn't so good.

Hopefully the DCCC is aware of the ambushes being set up and are advising their members to step lightly when they're in public and around cameras. It's not just the rushpublicans who are out to get them, but the corporate media as well. This will be more the case as Democrats attempt to restore regulations that affect the corporates bottom line. They not only have cameras, but big megaphones and hours of airtime to kill.

17. Easy answer, ignore them. Don't talk to anyone except those who you
know and the ones who invite you to their show or ask for an interview. Chances are real good these paparazzi are unknown to the people they are stalking or else they wouldn't be able to stalk them.Besides isn't stalking illegal?

19. Don't these people have anything better to do?
What kind of congressman hires staffers to stalk other congressmen? Do they have that kind of money laying around, that they can pay people to follow someone around with a camera?
